CREDIT GLOSSARY

Annual Fee—A yearly fee added to your statement that some credit cards charge for use of the card.
APR (Annual Percentage Rate)—A pre-set percentage rate that determines the finance charges you pay on your account.
Balance Transfer—If you have other credit cards with unpaid balances, you can transfer those amounts to another credit card with a lower interest rate and save money.
Billing Cycle—The number of days between your last statement date and your current statement date.
Cardmember Agreement—A written statement also known as the Terms & Conditions which provides the details of your agreement with the credit card issuer.
Cash Advance—When you use your credit card to get cash from an ATM or bank. Typically a card issuer charges a cash advance fee for the transaction and the cost of the transaction is higher than normal purchases because there is no grace period.
Charge Card—A specific kind of credit card that requires full payment of your balance with each billing cycle. Typically charge cards do not charge interest, but if you fall behind late fees can apply.
